Frequently Asked Questions
Case Study: How Does Love and Human Vulnerability Impact Insider Threat Assessment?
Human Investigation Management is in a constant state of threat assessment because the world is in a constantly changing state of war footing. The insider threat could be extended to families or workers within sites which means that the Heads of Companies or Departments such as Security or HR could be compromised because of love or lust.
No one can tell someone who to love because that person has to work it out themselves. This could be a father, mother, daughter son, co-worker, best friend, that could be getting involved with someone that has their own vested interest or intention.
To give a perspective on such, we bring the security practitioner into the picture because they could manage life impacting or deadly incidents besides their mission is to be finding the crime and stopping it – protecting sites and saving lives. Obviously, if security has been compromised or perhaps let us use the word ‘seduced’ then the perpetrator could access the keys to products or intelligence.
It is safe to say that practitioners have children be they even 20 or 30 years old are going to meet many people in their life be it lovers, bosses, best friends, salespeople – just so many people that could lie to them, hide things from them or volunteer information for their own agendas and not for the benefit of the potential victim.
The security practitioners know that their success depends on their critical thinking ability and level of situational awareness. Therefore, they need to teach their children (16+) how to read people taking cultural awareness into account besides being security investigation minded.
Now, the best method to assist others that could be believing that they are in love is to provide them an easy and effective method for them to look at their situation for themselves. Knowing where one truly stands with others, save themselves from disappointment, time, effort and money.

What should I do if a family member or friend is in an unhealthy relationship or mixing with bad people?
No one can tell someone who to love. They have to make their own decisions.
It is all in the chemistry. Fear produces the same brain chemistry as lust. Somebody could break a relationship with their partner. They could walk into a room and next minute get attracted to someone because of the tone of voice or a facial expression. They may not know why they are attracted to someone, but their body chemistry has been triggered. When the person in question is exposed to the right education for the right reason then they can see for themselves where they truly stand with others and walk away. But we must keep in mind that some go from an abusive relationship into a more abusive relationship but then there are some that have the knowledge to make their decisions and do an about turn. Help your friend or family and give them a tool, book or whatever to educate themselves for whatever reason except telling them it is for them to read someone in particular as they are in denial. Within the tool or clips is direction to knowing if a partner is consciously or unconsciously destroying the relationship or why they have many vested interests in such. No one can tell how to fall in love with but provide them a tool so that they can see it for themselves!
What does Security Cultural Awareness mean for investigation?
Security manages the flow and behaviour of the population of the world besides interview and investigate different cultures.
Simply putting this over is knowing that one can touch a person with the wrong hand, cross their feet besides other gestures and land up offending another person which is not good for crowd control or interviewing for many reasons. Security Investigation taking cultural conduct into consideration is a ‘must need to know’ for many reasons as well. Not knowing is simply foolish because security investigators that are ‘culturally’ ignorant will not achieve their objectives. Being culturally conscious provides a competitive advantage in finding the crime and stopping it – protecting sites and saving lives.
One should consider the moral code for security practitioners which is the same as a surgeon ”regardless of race, colour, religion, sex – all people must be handled without bias. The ‘without bias’ is important because how we feel about others comes out in our tone of voice and body-language and the other person reacts.

The Current Situation & The Insider Threat
Human Investigation Management operates in a constant state of threat assessment because the global operational climate remains on a continuous war footing. Insider threats extend far beyond technical systems—they reach families, academic researchers, and staff across operational sites. Key decision-makers, including Department Heads in Security, HR, or executive leadership, can be compromised through emotional exploitation, personal attachments, or romantic coercion.
No one can dictate who an individual should love or trust; people must navigate relationships themselves. Whether dealing with a family member, co-worker, or close associate who becomes involved with someone operating under hidden motives, HIM provides an objective, analytical framework to evaluate these complex human dynamics clearly.
What is the difference between crime investigation and security investigation?
Crime Investigators are summoned after an incident occurs. Security Investigators must find the unseen or unknown crime before incidents occur. Both crime and security investigators utilize technologies for investigation besides extracting reliable and truthful information from witnesses,
Security Investigators rely on two core attributes being their critical thinking ability and level of situational awareness. They comprehend the fact that global incidents could impact world-wide and impacting in their location or field of interest. This is when Professional Security Investigators know that certain crimes escalate for various reasons that demand a variety of technologies to tackle and mitigate specific crime besides crimes that were not even considered before.
What is the main purpose of Human Investigation Management (HIM)?
Human Investigation Management (HIM) is a proactive security framework designed to detect, analyse, and mitigate insider threats, deception, and human vulnerabilities before critical security breaches occur. Grounded in behavioural science and academic research, HIM equips security practitioners, organizational leaders, and academics with critical thinking models, such as, verbal and non-verbal deception detection, and situational awareness tools to protect assets, intelligence, and personnel.
How does Human Investigation Management differ from traditional criminal investigation?
Is it the bomb or the person that causes havoc? Human Investigation Management (HIM) differs from traditional criminal investigation by focusing on proactive threat prevention rather than post-incident response. While criminal investigators are summoned after a crime occurs as stated above, HIM trains security investigators to identify emerging or ongoing risks, detect verbal and non-verbal deceit, and uncover vulnerabilities early to mitigate collateral damage and protect lives.
The primary mission of a security practitioner is to find the threat and stop it before a breach occurs. If security personnel or company leaders besides key-people are compromised or manipulated, perpetrators gain access to critical intelligence and operational keys. HIM bridges this gap by instilling critical thinking and an investigation-minded approach that identifies hidden motives, subtle deception, and emerging risks in real time.
How does HIM help individuals identify manipulation and insider threat coercion?
Human Investigation Management (HIM) helps individuals evaluate complex relationships and potential coercion through an evidence-based methodology combining verbal deception detection, non-verbal behavioural analysis, and situational awareness. By applying academic research and behavioural science to human interactions, HIM enables leaders, security practitioners, and families to analyse true motives, evaluate credibility, and prevent strategic exploitation.
Whether protecting an enterprise, safeguarding academic research, or guiding young adults entering high-stakes environments, individuals frequently encounter manipulators who conceal intentions or advance hidden agendas. HIM provides a structured, objective framework to evaluate these dynamics accurately. By understanding baseline behaviour, linguistic indicators, and cultural contexts, individuals can navigate high-risk relationships with clarity, preventing emotional, financial, and organizational damage.
