Case Study: How Does Love and Human Vulnerability Impact Insider Threat Assessment?

Human Investigation Management operates in a constant state of threat assessment because the world is in a changing state of war footing. Insider threats can extend to families or internal workers, meaning executives or security directors can be compromised through affection, seduction, or deception. Security investigators act proactively to uncover these hidden risks, stop crimes before execution, and teach critical thinking and situational awareness for survival.

Why is someone leaking information without knowing or knowingly?

Whatever we feel about others comes out in our tone of voice and body language, and others react instinctively. Vice-versa, when people use tone or display body language—purposely or instinctively—we react. Some comprehend the other's intentions, while others have no clue or remain in denial. Understanding this dynamic enlightens individuals on where they truly stand with others.

What should I do if a family member or friend is in an unhealthy relationship or mixing with bad people?

No one can force someone to leave a relationship; they must make their own decisions. Fear produces the same brain chemistry as lust, and body chemistry can be triggered by a tone of voice or facial expression. When exposed to the right education, individuals can see where they stand and walk away on their own. Provide them with an educational tool or book for general learning without telling them it is meant for a specific person, as direct confrontation can trigger denial.

What can I do to lower the chances of being raped on my campus or building?

Talk to the Head of Security because this is a real threat in theatre. Modern technologies have evolved rapidly to help identify specific crimes and stop them. A Head of Security can integrate multiple complementary technologies simultaneously to protect sites and save lives. Educational booklets available on this website provide specific direction on technologies used to counter sexual assault and kidnapping.

How can I get my kids to pay attention instead of them being glued to their phone?

Divert their attention to something that genuinely interests them by opening their eyes to their surroundings and the people within it. Teaching children skill sets focused on reading people, critical thinking, and situational awareness helps them navigate interactions with people who may deceive them or hold hidden agendas. Learning to be security-investigation minded builds life-long survival skills that naturally draw their focus away from screen distractions.

PIAT The Trainer -

A facilitator/ trainer is an emotion manager

First extracting reliable information from the group – to know where individuals are positioned emotionally and mentally to absorbing new ideas. Thereafter, managing the emotions.

”Good morning group

I am sure that you have gone through the material and now each one of you
is going to stand up and deliver a 5 minute presentation”

Anxiously the person hopes that he is not called upon to voice his opinion, as he has a fear of speaking in public.

The stress is starting to build up as he gets off his chair to walk to the front of the class

Standing in front of the group – he is wringing his hands and is in high stress as he is petrified of speaking in public

The trainer informs the learner that he used the wrong example

Contempt

”That guy is such a pain in my neck” he says to himself

The trainer clarifies an example which is quite different to the learners’

”I hear what you say – but I disagree” is being displayed.
[However the learner does not disclose out loud his opinion]

He is obviously not happy with the trainer
